Fonality offers several software options, enabling you to customize your phone system to fit the needs of your company. Choose from three editions of the core PBXtra software and HUD, our Heads Up Display web-based call manager. Mix and match to best suit your company's size and call volume.

Choosing the Right PBXtra Server
PBXtra is available in four different server configurations to meet your individual performance requirements. The Fonality Minitower comes FREE with the purchase of any PBXtra Edition. If you expect higher call volumes and heavy usage of call center and conference calling features, you will require a higher performance server. We recommend you upgrade your server to one of our Dell server options.

Choosing the Right Expansion Cards
In addition to PBXtra, you will need phone service and the proper expansion card(s) for that service. If you choose analog lines (standard phone service like Verizon, SBC, Qwest, etc.), you will need an FXO card; if you use T1/E1/PRI, you will need a T1/E1 port for each T1 line. The matrix below will assist you in choosing the proper expansion card(s) your PBXtra deployment. For additional assistance, talk to your sales rep.

Choosing the Right Phones
PBXtra supports most standard analog phones and select IP phones including models from Aastra, Polycom, and Cisco. Each of these IP phones have been fully tested and qualified by Fonality to operate with the PBXtra platform and Fonality applications. In order to ensure interoperability, Fonality certifies and supports only specific combinations of third party hardware and firmware. Some non-supported features on standard analog or IP phones may not work, even though they are present on the device as shipped from the original manufacturer. Please check with us to ensure that you are utilizing the correct firmware and features.

Making the Connectivity Choice: VoIP vs. POTs
PBXtra has three modes. (1) PSTN-Only, (2) PSTN-Fallback, and (3) VoIP-only. If you choose options 2 or 3, you may be able to obtain significant savings on both your monthly long distance bill, and on your line usage charges, from your existing carrier.
