hi everyone,
Just installed my first trixbox on an old pc and everything is working out of the box, love it. foremost i want to say thanks for all the hard work to developers and you guys, great job. also this is my fist post and im new to voip so i might ask silly things.

Now to my situation: i have two FXO boxes laying here (Linksys SPA400 & Micronet SP5052A V2) and i would like to use them with my trixbox i just setup.

my setup however, would be different than the usual setup. i already have analog telephones connected to a central and i wish to continue using them as changing each phone to IP tel would be too expensive. but i would like to be able to use a SIP provider (i use Poivy myself) for international calls.

my basic understanding is that i must connect my analog systems to my trixbox using an FXO. For using SIP a user must dial a number, say 8 to be connected to FXO>trixbox>SIP provider.

my question is how do i go about doing this? i did a little bit of reading and this is my general idea about what should be done, please correct me if i am wrong and tips are most welcome:

1. connect a cable coming from analog PBX to FXO box.
2. on analog PBX assign a number to the cable just connected, im my case i assigned 300.
3. in trixbox create a new trunk connecting to SIP provider (i already managed to do this after half a day messing about, yay)
4. create a trunk to FXO box (have now idea how to do this)
5. create an incoming route to divert all calls to SIP trunk

thanks

Ozeeo, There are no

Ozeeo, There are no developers to thank here. trixbox took the code from Asterisk and FreePBX and put their name to it. They have not updated the package in well over a year. trixbox used to be a vibrant product with a project manager and develops. Sadly, this is no longer so.

You may want to look into a distribution that is more current.

Also, you would have an FXO port on the analog system. Asterisk would have an FXS port.

Dear Scott,
thats sad to hear! any suggestion regarding more active built of FreePBX?

and is my line of thought mentioned above correct?

i dont really get what you mean by "Also, you would have an FXO port on the analog system. Asterisk would have an FXS port." Yes the PBX would be connected to FXO but how would asterisk be connected to a FXS!
