connecting three trixbox

Hello,

Need some help and direction. I have installed three trixbox at 3 different locations. Created IAX trunks between them so internal users can call any extension at all three locations. I wanted to know if it’s possible for a caller from outside to call DID, hit the IVR and then dial extension at any one of these locations?
If I try now, I get a message not a valid ext.

Thanks in advance.

External Calls to other servers

The way I do this is I create a group that calls the IAX trunk to the remote server. For example I create group 300 there is 1 member in that group. That member is 7177777# What that number means is it dials 7 for my IAX trunk then 17 which is the dial plan number for this particular remote server then 7777 so the call is routed to the IVR on the remote box. The # is the key that allows the external call to be routed over the trunk. Now this setup worked on a TB2.2 box I have not tested with my TB2.6.2.1 box but presumably they left that functionality in groups.

You can also setup a custom

You can also setup a custom extension with the dial string of IAX2/peername/remote_extension_number and then use that custom extension as the target of the IVR selection.

hi

thanks for your reply. all three locations have different extensions like one location has 1100-1120, second has 1200-1215 and third has 2100-2110. How do i add custom extensions? please guide and provide instruction.

what i want to setup is... a caller calls to one location but can reach someone extension at any location

thanks a lot

Choose extension/new then

Choose extension/new then type = custom

In the Device Options Dial field construct a dial string as follows:

The following variables are used in this example

PeerName - In your IAX trunk the contents (case sensitive) of Outgoing settings/ name fies

Remoteexten - The number on the remote system connected via the IAX trunk you wish to call

IAX2/Peername/remoteexten

Example: IAX2/System2/440

This is the best method for IVR's

thanks

thanks a lot Scott. does that mean all extensions have to be added to all three trixbox so any outside caller can reach anyone? or is there any wildcard option?

thanks a lot for helping out.

You indicated you wanted to

You indicated you wanted to add an IVR option, if you want them simply to be able to dial by extension the answer is yes, you have to add each one.

The other option is DUNDI trunks, this is one feature I have never tried to implement.
