dial in to change call forwarding options

Can anybody help with this, I am quite new to trixbox and would like to be able to set it up so that users can dial in from an external phone and be able to set the call forward options on their internal extension.

This isn't possible by default. Nor should it ever be.

Think about it. If you setup this capability on your office extension, let's say 203, then I'll call your office, call your extension, enter a feature code and redirect all your calls to my office. I steal all your business. Or, I redirect your extension to my mother's house in New Zealand and enjoy free "local" calls to mum at your expense.

The only way to redirect or call forward an extension should be from the management interface or the physical extension.

As I think about it; perhaps you already knew that...

I agree with your points about security, but I have a client who claim that they had this working at one time. It was secured by the user having to enter a pin to get access to the feature but has stopped working since an upgrade to 2.8
I have a copy of an original conf file which looks as though it should set this up from the ivr, but as I am not up to speed with asterisk commands I can't tell if it should work or not.
At the moment it hangs up the incoming call when the option is taken from the ivr, after a couple of beeps.

I could certainly see where it would be possible to program this capability. Some form of custom extension that asks for a pin. Perhaps something like a DISA access code followed by the call forwarding code.

I've never done one so, I can't tell you exactly how to do it. Posting the relevant portion of the conf file here will likely get you better advice.
