fresh install of trixbox, zaptel voice missing

I was running an old version of trixbox with a 4 channel zaptel PCI card (wctdm driver) perfectly fine, no issues.
I tried a package update a few days ago and it looks like too much got updated and it ate my phone system, no calls in or out, voicemail messages lost, very nasty.
So, I wrote down my entire configuration, DLed the latest CD for trixbox (V2.4.2)
and blew away the entire box and installed from scratch.
The config went back in clean and most of the system worked fine.
The one thing messed up is my zaptel.
If I pick up a POTS internal phone and call a SIP ext, it works fine.
If I pick up a SIP ext and call the POTS ext, neither side can hear the other.
If a call comes in from the outside into the zaptel, the caller can't hear anything and I can't hear them on any of my SIP exts.
caller ID, dialing and all that seems to work fine.

Anyone encounter anything like this? Any suggestions?

In zapata.conf make sure

In zapata.conf make sure echotraining is commented out.
;echotraining=800

That's got 1/2 the problem

That's got 1/2 the problem licked, I can now call into the house using the zaptel trunk and answer with a sip ext.
The zaptel ext still can't answer a call though. But it can originate one still.
(it answers but no voice either way)

do the same with your zaptel ext

check that your zaptel extension has also no value to echotraining

Thanks for the hint, I found

Thanks for the hint, I found it!
My extension in the gui had a spot for echotraining and it was 800, setting it to blank fixed it.

Thanks again!

Nothing seems to be helping

Well, I have read about every post I can find on this subject and followed all the suggestions. I still have no voice for incoming calls on a Zaptel extension, but I can make outgoing calls with voice.

As I stated, I have tried commenting out the echotraining, I have tried reducing it to 128.

Any other suggestions?
