Hi,

I bought 2 new Lynksis SPA942 to use with trixbox 2.8.1, I setup the phone using static IP address but when the phone boot only display "Checking DNS", the address is assigned because I can access to the web interface but I can't get access to the Admin login to setup the extension because it ask me for a password. Why I getting the "Checking DNS" error and the phone never boot completely.

Thanks in regard

You must have bought these

You must have bought these used since there is no password by default so someone had set the admin password and some custom network settings. You could get around this by setting up a config file using the endpoint manager and pushing out option 66 from a DHCP server so the phones will grab a new configuration file. Otherwise, they should boot up after a few minutes and allow you to do a factory reset on them.

If they refuse to boot, you will need to do a wireshark capture to figure out what host name they are trying to resolve (probably an ISP that is no longer around) and then you will have to have a DNS server on your network pushing an IP for that hostname so it will boot properly. Once it is up, press menu 14 and you should be able to get to the menu to reset it.

Thanks for the answer

Thanks for the answer Kerryb,

I was able to assign a IP address and press the menu 14 for master reset but then ask me for a password, is it a way to make a firmware upgrade to reset the deafult password?

You can try this, no promise

You can try this, no promise it will work. You might even have a custom firmware locked to whatever provider they were used with. Get the latest firmware files, put them in the trixbox /tftpboot folder, and try this:

http://phone-IP/upgrade?tftp://TFTP-Server-IP/firmwarefilename.bi...
