Why would you have to open

Why would you have to open ports for your trunk? Your provider doesn't support registration?

This is a common misconception. You only have to open ports if remote phones are going to register with you. Since most people are unable to maintain a reasonable security infrastructure we recommend VPN's for that application.

?? now i feel a little dumb

As i understood from many instructions that i have to "port Forward" some porrs least the 506x to get registrtion.
If i do not it shows NO registration of any trunks in the
i have than inder i.e
IP Phones Online 4
IP Trunks Online 4
IP Trunk Registrations 0

I use VOIP.ms and VOIPstunt.com

Thanks

The directions are all

The directions are all wrong. If you use a Vonage adapter do you have to open ports? Same concept.

to nice

If thats the case. But why than does non of those Providers register ?
I use Trixbox 2.6 and got conection on the old router after forwarding ports and unblock firewalls etc. Use in the same ROuter i hva no sucess with Trixbox, a softphone like VOIPSTUNT w/o Trixbbox it works fine so I understand your Vonage point.

What then is wrong that i have no access

Thanks

Ok all directions are wrong so can anybody tell me what the right directions. I definitly do not get any Trunk registerd. It seems its blocked.

If all the old directions of Port forwarding are nuts, what would be nice, than how do i get through the Router ???

Thanks for "ANNNY " Help

Which ports do you forward on your router in order to get to google.com in your browser ?

Surely using google is not

Surely using google is not the same thing this is tcp based traffic.

How does the rtp traffic traverse the firewall without ports being open ? The audio does use the outgoing port in the same way as web browsing ?

Just trying to understand how it could work.

It's not about TCP or UDP.

It's not about TCP or UDP. SIP encoded IP addresses in the message header, that is why it can be an issue with media stream association.

NAT-T (traversal) solves these issues and is taken care of by Session Border Controllers at the providers end.

NAT-T is about IPSec, not

NAT-T is about IPSec, not sure what it has to do with SIP.

I also like the way you describe this magical device - SBC - which uses PFM in order to take care of NAT issues ;-)

I have to tell you the

I have to tell you the netnet SBC is as close to magic as I have ever seen.

http://www.acmepacket.com/default.asp

I have not even scratched the surfaced of what this thing can do. They refer to the process as NAT Traversal.

It's also a charging gateway and load balancer.
