PRI ISDN in UK - anyone had any experience?

Hey Guys,

Got a quick question I am hoping someone can give me a quick answer on. I'm from Australia and we use PRI ISDN30 (E1) on a number of or Trixbox systems that we have in our various offices. On the server side we use Digium TE121 cards - that's all cool and it works well.

We about to roll out a new server in our London office for which I am heading over to do the setup. We have just had BT come and install the new PRI lines and the network termination device they have installed is very different to what our telcos do here.

On the front it is labeled as a "NTE51D" but I can find very little info about these devices on the web - here are some pics:

So just because I am unfamiliar with this device I was wondering if anyone else has done an install with these before? I notice on the back that it has both a coax and RJ45 socket.

Is that RJ45 socket our E1 connection? What is the coax used for? Can we just plug our Digium card in our server into the RJ45 and configure the card and all should be good?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Cheers,
Luke.

The rj45 is the e1

The rj45 is the e1 connection just connect to that and all will be good.

The coax is 75 ohms e1 connection just use the rj45

Normally isdns when you first connect to them are not fully activated and you will need to ring to get it activated when connected to the trixbox try 0800 592831 ( might be wrong haven't used the Isdn Helpdesk in a few years) make sure BT have provisioned the Isdn as euro Isdn.

Thanks Jason for the info!

Thanks Jason for the info! Yeah the phones lines still need to be activated. The local telco company that organised the BT lines has that scheduled to happen on our cut-over day.

Thanks again!

Cheers,
Luke.
