I have a system to set up for a client who likes things the hard way. Is it possible, and how would I set up so that two seperate phones can dial 7 to dial out and based on which extension is dialing uses a particular channel

Use the FreePBX custom

Use the FreePBX custom context module. Put the phones in two separate contexts. Lot of work for two phones.

It is a contributed module

Philippe posted the link in another thread the other week.

http://mirror.freepbx.org/modules/release/contributed_modules/

You can get the custom context module there then upload it using the Upload Module feature in FreePBX. There is a lot of help on using it in the FreePBX forums.

It's not part of the trix

It's not part of the trix distribution. You have to load it manually.

Google 'FreePBX and Custom Contexts'

Ok so I create the custom

Ok so I create the custom contexts, then in the extension creation, I set each extension to those contexts? There will be more than two phones btw, just using two made example easier.

You build the custom context

You build the custom context with the rules you have defined then in the extension you use assign the context for the extension.
