Is there a way to disable chat between 2 departments

hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to keep employees from chatting with each other using hud3.0. I was hired in as summer help and am a mechanical engineering student, I am fairly well rounded when it comes to computers but this issues that my employer wants addressed is a little over my head. I have read lots of documentation about chat and its features. I have logged in as the administrator and gone into the groups then department and removed the chat option from the permissions tab. I thought this would be the solution( no luck) . What my employer would like is for the chat function to be disabled to all departments. they(Administrators) wish to only be able to initiate chat with some one in a department. they wish to have no chatting between the non admin employees in the departments.
The system running is 2 poweredge 1950 , 30 or so astra phones , edge water, and hud 3.0 .

Is it possible to disable chat function another way? ( I previously removed the chat function from the permissions list)
Is it possible to allow only the admins to initiate a chat with a employee in the department.

I don't know about HUD but iSymphony will allow you to restrict ANY action that can be performed via the granular permission system. Please keep in mind that permissions only come in the Conductor Edition.

How do you have HUD 3.0

How do you have HUD 3.0 working on CE? Are you sure you don't have trixbox Pro?

I am going off what the employer is telling me

So far all I really know is that this is a brand new dell fonality system. 2 1950 power edge servers (I'm guessing redundency), a edge water(this I have found is due to dual T1), at the moment 30 some phones, all the computers are using hud 3.0. all the phones are astra i55.I believe we have the call center edition. I have searched pbxtra concerning the chat permissions and removed it from the list, but this has not corrected the problem. The administrators(employers) do not really understand the system besides what I have previously stated. I thought that through logging in to the panel.fonality that there might be a easy way to disable chat between department employees. dell/ fonality are not quite being as helpful as they thought. thank you for all of the help

Check your software version,

Check your software version, I am sure it is trixbox Pro.

You should move your question to the Pro section (you can change the forum with the edit command and all the replies will move).

You may find you have a support contract on the machine.

If I have no documentation and the employer doesn't know is there a way
I could find out through the panel, or by some other means?
