I am getting emails on updates for freepbx but have been hesitant to do them since trixbox and FreePBX interact. Is there any issue of doing these updates? I am running trixbox ce 2.2.9.

If this is a production machine, then I would not especially if you have any entries on the Extention_custom.conf
Personally, it was not a show stopper for me, but I have heard others that had to debug a few lines.
A good thing to do (and that I do) is to backup to another drive (DD) and then try it.
This way you have a way to go back..
I am sure others will have some comments to share.
