Using the TAPI driver of HUD with VB

I am trying to make our inhouse apps work with the Trixbox server. We have a Visual Basic call notes program and contact database. We would like to make it so that we can click on a phone number in the contact manager and place an outgoing call. We would also like to be able to get the caller ID for incoming calls and use it in the call notes program. Does anyone have any experience in this? Can someone suggest if HUD is the right interface program or should we use something else?
