I'd like to announce the availability of a new Caller ID Name lookup service at VoIPCNAM.com. The service is designed to integrate easily with Trixbox and Asterisk systems to provide true Caller ID Names for incoming calls.

The service is $2/month, including 25 free lookups. Additional lookups are 2 cents each.

Integration with Trixbox takes less than 2 minutes and is entirely GUI based (no command line). Asterisk configuration examples and Trixbox instructions are available on our website at VoIPCNAM.com.

A few examples from our service:
13108614322 = FONALITY
12564286000 = DIGIUM INC
12024561414 = WHITE HOUSE
17208881000 = LEVEL 3 COMM

Take a look for yourself!

I hate beta's that are

I hate beta's that are thinly veiled marketing campaigns.

Especially when it's someone new to the forum who is not a member of the community.

2 cents a lookup is a bit pricey, I guess not at retail. This would be a great service for the guys over at the VoIPCoOP I will have to mention to Cliff and the gang. Aggregating CNAM dips for members would be a great benefit.

Hi James: Our service offers

Hi James:

Our service offers pay-as-you-go true CNAM lookup service at a fraction of the cost, making it ideal for individuals and small businesses. There are lots of numbers that may be inaccurate, or non-existent when using alternative AGI methods. Using information from the CNAM database solves this problem. Our $2mo/2c per query pricing eliminates the need to pay a $30 deposit to Metrostat or similar companies.

Hi Scott:

I understand your thoughts behind this, but I must correct you on one aspect of your posting; I am not at all new to this community. I've been around since Andy made the transition from Asterisk@Home to Trixbox 1.0. Granted, I don't have some 3300+ postings like you do, but I'm not new. I do not appreciate the comment about a "thinly veiled marketing campaign." I wanted to have a few individuals to do some final testing, and that's what I posted about. I got more than enough responses to get things done on schedule. If I were marketing, I would have included a full into on the service, a URL, etc, etc, etc. That was not the case.

Our 2 cent rate is slightly more than Metrostat and cnam.info at 1.8 cents, but with our service you don't have to pay $30 upfront to have access.

VoipCNAM, Sorry you don't

VoipCNAM,

Sorry you don't like my comments, I only can comment on what I see. James pointed out your very short beta period. How is anyone supposed to know who you are, your account is four days old. You did not identify yourself or share your ties to the community.

Your website offers no clue as to where you company is located, contains no business address, biorgraphies of the principals, corporate structure or history.

Without additional data I only have what I see to draw my conclusions.

positive comment

On a more positive note, I subscribed to this service and was pleased it was relatively easy to setup. It works quite well, and I'm in Canada. The only issue was that the info on how to setup the Trixbox CNAM entry was not correct. I had to look at the config files manually to figure out what was going wrong...

The entries actually need to be as follows:
HOST: query.voipcnam.com
PORT:
USERNAME:
PASSWORD:
PATH: /query.php
QUERY: api_key=?????????&number=[NUMBER]

VoipCNAM down?

The service appears to be down right now? The web site is completely dead. This is not very encouraging.
