I ave been looking for a voip phone that is 802.11 compatible so that I can go into anyplace where there's free wifi, connect my handset, and make calls on my Trixbox system.
Saw Snom phones with DECT phones, but not sure if this is what I'm looking for.

Anyone know of anything like this, or have experience with DECT?

SNOM M3, Talkswitch TS850, WIP310

The SNOM M3 amd the Aastra TalkswithcTS850 are DECT phones, and not wifi. But definitely very good phones!

Cisco WIP310 would be you best bet if you intend to use this on public 'FREE' Wifi.

My choice? SNOM M3.

WIP310 is a very good 802.11bg phone, IF, yes IF you have a stable WIFI connection.
On a Public FREE IP, it is NOT advisable... Since it is FREE, and NOISY, and BUSY, eh, you will NOT appreciate the value of this phone.
