Channel Monitor

I've been directed to post this question here ...

"At my office, we upgraded from individual ATA's to a Zed-3 PBX. In the 6 months we've had this unit, we've had innumerable quality issues. On a whim, I decided to try out Trixbox, and lo and behold, all our problems suddenly disappeared. There is only one thing the previous PBX unit had, that either trixbox lacks, or I haven't been able to find.

With the Zed-3, I could open a frame that would show me my active calls, showing the called ID, the final extension that connected to the call, and when the call started. This screen is invaluable as a tool to monitor my agents, but I don't see an equivalent here. Is this something that's easy to add, or that already exists? I can provide a screenshot if needed."

I was also advised that the FOP can be customized to accomplish this, however, when calls come in, my FOP panel does not react at all. Any pointers on how to accomplish either situation would be of great help.

Thank you in advance,

Victor

I will also repeat my answer

I will also repeat my answer here, the included Flash Operator Panel can do exactly what you want. If you want to customize it the docs are at www.asternic.org I don't know why your panel is not working, you did not include any information to help you with that issue.

i9 Technologies also has a great product called iSymphony www.i9technologies.com

Thanks for the response ...

First off, my apologies if my question seems vague. My simple need is to see what extensions are on calls, and like I said, my FOP is not reacting to calls at all, so my PBX operates, but it does so blindly. My understanding is that it should work out of the box, but it doesn't, and it doesn't give me any errors either, so, again, sorry if my question seemed vague, but I don't know what else I could have posted to make it more clear. Since my previous, yet defective PBX had a nice feature, I thought there might be a plugin someone can direct me to. I will of course, go check out the link you provided, regarding iSymphony.

I'll also take a look at the docs for the FOP, but not being much of a programmer, I have a feeling it will end up being over my head. If I can't even get it to work out of the box, I doubt I'll have a chance to customize it.

My question remains however: if anyone knows of a plug-in module that can simply lists active channels, I'd love to see it. In the meantime, I'll check out your links and hopefully I'll get what I need.

After some googling ...

It turns out that in the Asterisk Terminal (which I guess is referred to as Asterisk-CLI), a simple "sip show channels" command produces exactly what I need.

Now, I may be using the wrong phrasing in googling what I want to accomplish now, but I'd like to save that output to a file whenever a call comes in, or ends. Does anyone have any idea where I can get some pointers on ... scripting(?) this? If I can get Asterisk to automatically dump this into a textfile, I can PHParse that file to make the frame I need.

Any assistance would be great.

Skyking, as I expected, the Docs for FOP were a tad over my head. iSymphony was BEAUTIFUL. But a little too grandiose. I just want a list.

Thanks!
