Note - I have not yet been able to figure our how to get this working on trixbox but I'm sure I will and then we can make it a wiki. Anyone who wants to try it and contribute please do! I also tried the interface on a Blackberry and it's not bad.

such a tease..

I thought for a minute that this was going to be a SIP phone but it is a clever PHP script with some gui on the phone. I have an iPhone'd friend that is jealous of my Nokia tablet because of SIP/WiFI compared to his expensive cell/data plan.
in fact, if this could be adapted to a *nix tablet like the N8xx it would have my attention. And careful with the security, I'd not want to expose this to the net but would be fun internally for now.

I'm sure now that the iPhone

I'm sure now that the iPhone SDK is out and Apple officially stated they won't block VoIP over WiFi that someone will write a SIP client.

Unfortunately this isn't it. But it's still cool.

tbm-iphone

I have put together a rpm that will install this on trixbox 2.6. I have only tested it with 2.6, so feel free to give it a try. It should work on 2.4 as well. Please note that this is not very secure as the alias for messages that is required. You should be able to password protect this. There is a iphone.conf in /etc/httpd/conf.d

The rpm is in the beta repo.

Thank you,
Engineer Tim

Is that it? Anything to configure?

Engineer Tim,

Just install it out of the repository and go? Where do I point the iPhone?

I tried http://192.168.x.x/iphone/listen.php but it was just a blank page.

Thanks!
Dan

I believe you should be

I believe you should be pointing the browser to http://192.168.x.x/iphone/ . listen.php is a page used to send the sound down to the phone.

Also, there is a iphone.conf to configure in /etc/httpd/conf.d

Make sure to edit your

Make sure to edit your configuration files. You should be able to point your iphone to http://192.168.x.x/iphone and it will ask you to login as sublime suggested. The actual config file lives in /var/www/html/iphone/ and is called i_settings.php. I was also informed that there is a new version of this, so I will try and wrap up a new rpm by the end of the week.

Thank you,
Engineer Tim

Latest version fixes security issue

The latest version fixes the security issue. The previous version required a /messages/ Apache alias. Someone could potentially listen to other people's messages if you knew their phone number. The latest version passes the sound through a PHP page where security checks can be performed. The apache /messages/ alias is no longer required.

wtodd:

What do you get when you click Play Message?
Is it jumping to quicktime?
What do you see?

yes jumps to quicktime.

my bad... it was necessary to reboot my system and then everything began working normally... This is awesome!

Is anyone aware of a sip client which is working well with iphone??? I have found sip-voip at touchmods.net, but its rough at best. quality and functionality still very shaky imho.

MWI would be cool

If there were some way to ping this periodically, it would be cool to have a MWI show up on the icon button???? (in the similar style to the "on" indicator of the SIP VoIP icon) ....just a thought.

Thanks again Engineer Tim... is great!

Messages won't play

I get as far as seeing the message details, but when I try to play the progress bar comes up and just freezes. Message does not play. Nothing locks up, you can close the message and navigate to another but none will play.
Thanks for any suggestions.

New RPM coming

I have been a little behind on the code of this. I think there are two newer versions. I will try to get them going first part of next week if not sooner.

Thank you,
Engineer Tim

Is there a way

To even listen to voice mails on an iPhone without calling into your system? I usually have my voice mails emailed to me, but the audio files don't play.

any update on the newest

any update on the newest version getting into the repository?

Also, I am a Linux newbie, and am trying to complete the installation:

You will need to restart httpd
You need to copy /var/www/html/iphone/i_settings.php.dist
to /var/www/html/iphone/i_settings.php

Whats the easiest way to do this, I am attempting to use the Nano command but cant figure out how to just select all and copy so that I can then get over to paste it into the correct file.

Also, whats the command for restarting httpd?
