Inbound calls cant dial Extensions - help

I am using Trixbox with freePBX 2.2.

I can call any extension internally; I can also dial out.
When someone dials my phone number from outside, they get the main greeting which then times out and hangsup. If I enter an extension (e.g. 111) nothing happens.
How do I let people dial extensions?

where are you sending the

where are you sending the calls when they are received? if they are going to an ivr then in the ivr screen in FREEPBX you have to check the box that allows direct extension input, until that box is checked it won't let the caller input anything other than the options in the IVR...

you could also have a DTMF issue
