New Features in Trixbox...

Andrew,

Has anyone discussed using Jive Software's (www.jivesoftware.org) Wildfire XMPP instant messaging server and Spark Client with trixbox? It has Asterisk integration for incoming call popups, "on-the-phone" status updates in the client, and various "click-to-dial" functions built-in and of course it's free. Also Trillian (version 3.1.2.1003 or later) and Coccinella IM clients support the Asterisk-IM add-on functionality as well. I've gotten everything to work and play well together (after fighting the JVM install (required by Wildfire) and configuration) with AAH 2.8. I was going to construct some docs for installation for AAH soon (read as 1-8 weeks from now :-D ). Also looking forward to HUDLite as well. Keep up the good work and thanks for AAH and trixbox.

Tracy

Sounds good. you can post how to set it up on voip-info or send it to me. All of these features and more (execpt chat) will be part of HUDlite . look for a release on Friday.

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

I installed Wildfire on our Win 2003 Server and Spark on clients. I (and others) had issues with the user status not being updated from the AAH server. Whether that was a problem with Asterisk Manager or Wildfire server, I do not know. The Spark client loaded very slow, and seemed to be a resource hog, so between the two issues we abandoned it. It wasn't really a big benefit in our small office anyway, but larger companies with multiple locations should consider it, especially since it may be more reliable by now.

Good Luck! :-D

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

Are there some release notes or other documentation for this release? I would love to take a look at these before trying to install the .iso on my system...

Thanks,
mike

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

I used Wildfire a cpl on months back on Fedora4 and it was fantastic...having it in the same box as Asterisk would be awsome.... I think its real value is as a presence tool....

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

The 1.1 release of the asteriskIM plugin fixes almost all the issues with away status not being updated. However, it also has a bug that causes the dial buttin in spark to not work.

One step forward, one step back....It is still really great though to be able to see if people are on the phone. Our company has remote employees on our * system, and so far they really like the integration.

Hi Tracy,

I agree with you. Jivesoftware's Wildfire and Asterisk IM plug-in are indeed going to be excellent added features should Andrew consider adding them.

Done it as well and it's working great!

It will be even better if someone could develop a "plug-in" for asterisk bridging SIP or IAX to Skype (and vice versa) in a one box solution rather than "inviting" the windowzs platform in.

Cheers

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

If you are using the Asterisk-IM 1.1 plugin and Wildfire 2.6 or newer then it ONLY works with Asterisk 1.2 or NEWER. Pre-Wildfire 2.6 and the Asterisk-IM 1.0 plugin only works correctly with Asterisk 1.0.x. If you're not running the latest from jivesoftware.org you NEED to be...

Re: New Features in Trixbox...

Do you know if the Jivesoftware Wildfire server will link to Microsoft Active Directory (or take a snapshot), so I dont have to manually create lots of users?
