Hello all,

I've been reading alot on Asterisk and Trixbox. I have a system I plan to install on and I
have the Trixbox ISO to burn. With all the info out there, I still can't find any info on how
this really works. I know I need added hardware and a voip-provider, and I know this
much about the flow of a call: Voice (source) - - ADC - - - - Internet - - - DAC - -
Voice (dest), but I think I'll be more comfortable if someone can explain the path of a call
starting from a landline or cell phone coming through my Trixbox system then reaching its
destination, international or domestic. For example, I get a phone number form a Voip
provider, does this mean that when someone call me at that number my voip-provider
gets the call which is routed to my Trixbox?,,What about if someone wants to make an
international call going through my Trixbox, how does that call flow from a pstn to pstn?
Does it go frm pstn to voip-provider to my trixbox back to voip-provider then to the
destination pstn? Please shed some light on this for me.

Thanks in advance
Sizz

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

Since you are not familiar with trixbox and setting up a system, I would suggest taking on one thing at a time.

First, do you have a computer you are wanting to install trixbox on?

Do you know how to download trixbox and burn a bootable CD?

What do you mean by receiving calls on "regular" phones? Or are you wanting to know how trixbox can receive calls from anyone?

Transfering a call to your cell phone? ABSOLUTELY!

Internation calls? Why not?

yes -One bite at a time!

Thank for responding markwho

Yes I do have the trixbox iso and a system to install it on.
By "regular phones" I mean -calls originating from- "land-line-phones and cellphones"
I can follow instructions. I'm trying to understand the flow of a call starting from a land line
going through my trixbox to an intnl call or to my cell-phone.
I would also like to know more about the needed hardware.

Thanks
Sizz

Have you burned your ISO to

Have you burned your ISO to a bootable CD? :>)

If you want to connect pots (plain ol' telephone service) lines to trixbox you are going to need a card plugged into a pci slot of the computer.

Such as a Rhino http://trixstore.trixbox.com/product_info.php?products_id=1689
One fxo per pots line.

Or a Sangoma card.

These two brands seem to be the best (as I've noticed on the forums here.) I have a digium card, but it has issues and I will be changing soon to a rhino or sangoma.

Flow of a call...

Once trixbox is installed and the modules you need are installed and the rhino or sangoma analog card is installed........

.......the pots line (or it can be called a trunk, or CO pronounced see oh,) is plugged into the appropriate connector on the pci card...

Then the fun begins!!!!!!!!!!

Now, to make things easier on you...and to keep me from writing page after page after page... I suggest you visit these three sites for some indepth instructions!!!

This sound like the stuff I

This sound like the stuff I did. Yep start one thing at a time. Get that to work first.
I suggest look at the SPA-3102 from linksys. If you want 1 voip to pstn line. I think you can get that from Voxilla.com
You can get a land line to trixbox. I think that might be fwd.pulver.com or ipkall.com set up line to forward to trixbox.
