I cannot login to console with putty. Has somebody an idee why? At console it self it works fine.

The SSH server might be configured not to allow Root to login remotely. If you have Webmin installed you can check the options under Webmin->Servers->SSH Server... I can't remember off the top of my head which option then, but you could check each one, as the setting identifies itself clearly.
No Webmin?... hmmm not sure how it could be configured via console. Maybe a search of "SSH, config, CentOS..." might yield results...

Yes, I can log on to the local console as root without problems. I guess there is a limitation, but I'm not the linux spezialist, so I need a hint where i can configure it.

I get the same access denied fault with Webmin while login process :-(
I try to log on to Webmin with the root account, I'm not sure is that properly, maybe there is an other account, but which one?
