Hey hey, another groupwise

Hey hey, another groupwise user! I haven't fully implemented groupwise yet but here are some things I think you have to do:

Allow your trixbox server to SMTP relay through the GWIA. My recommendation is that will have a separate device such as a barracuda spam filter on the outside handling all the nasties of the internet and only allowing the good stuff to get in that way you don't have to beef up security on the GWIA. Also, set up MX records in your local DNS servers and make sure your trixbox is set to get DNS from those servers. Postfix will look at the mail exchanger records in DNS and know to send mail destined for your local domain name to your groupwise system. You will also need to add the following line to your postfix config:

relayhost=ip.of.gwia.server

Also as an added bonus, you can get unified messaging going with asterisk voicemail imap storage so users voicemail boxes show up in their groupwise mailboxes: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Voicemail+IMAP+storag... that would allow for truly unified communications.

As another added bonus, the groupwise client is TAPI compliant so you can you sipTAPI for click to dial and whatnot.

As YET ANOTHER added bonus, if you use outlook (LookOut!!) to connect to your groupwise server via MAPI you can use HUDLite to do that as well.

Glad to see we aren't the last Novell shop in the world. Have you guys started migrating off of NetWare onto OES2 yet? iPrint migration always seems to screw up every time.

another groupwise

Well, i work in a public school district and most of the districts around our area are still Novell shops and as such use Groupwise. I'll try pointing my relayhost to the GWIA server and see what happens. I didn't know where to begin so, instead of just hacking away, I thought I'd do like my wife always tells me to do, and ask first :) Does any of this have to be configured in GW or Novell or is MAPI/TAPI/IMAP functionality built-in?

Yeah, I like the idea of click to dial and all that too...great selling point.

We have not migrated to OES yet. I don't know if it is planned yet or not. The word has not come down from above yet :) I'm sure it will happen in the near future.

You better get cracking on

You better get cracking on it because Netware is EOL. OES2 SP1 covers all of the functionality of Netware so there's really not a need for Netware anymore.

TAPI is configured in the Groupwise client from the get-go so no worries there.

MAPI (outlook connection) is available in groupwise 7 and up I think, not sure where it's configured.

IMAP is a standard part of Groupwise but I'm not sure what component it lives in.

In GroupWise 6.0.4 it is in GWIA.
