ok this is somewhat simple yet somewhat interesting. Im trying to figure out a way where i can connect my trixbox to a front end public system taht would use joomla or whatnot. Basically i want a joomla person to sign up (like an ACE subscrption or whatnot) and create a user account in joomla, that corresponds to an inbound route on the trixbox server (so in registration they add the DID number which would be the really only INOf needed for the trixbox server (its a callback server so its setup to call back by the DID given). So basically people can sign up on a joomla site and create an account. Then the account is minutes based. So basically if they paid $5 for 20 minutes, when those 20 minutes were used (through that inbound route), their sub is canceled or they need to put money in etc..? is this possible? it does not have to be joomla, but its easy to use and is a good example of what im trying to do. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Front End Joomla type inbound route support
It's nothing impossible really, but if you have to ask on a public forum, I'm guessing you don't have the resources to make it work.
You need an integrator to write a custom module in Joomla which writes dialplans for your asterisk (bypassing FreePBX... prehaps this is best done on a non-FreePBX install, bare asterisk). You need a billing system to take care of the accounting like A2billing, and you need to automate the process which will also involve some serious integration into A2billing as well.
Good luck.
i see what you are talking about.. but your saying i will have to hire someone to code basically the frontend possibly just straight asterisx no trixbox involved. Im not really a php wizz, but im curious if anyone wanted to help atempt me in this project or suggest another method (like not joomla)..
Ever get this working? It's something I'd be interested in as well.
this is a reasonably complex task , i would estimate about 2 weeks work , we have built similar intergration before , and i agree that intergration with A2Billing would be a very good idea. i suppose it is important to remember that all these tools are opensource , but developing a custom add on will always cost you money if you do not have the skills to do ALL the code yourself. at the end of the day CODE = man hours = dollars .
if you dont have the money , then you must learn to code for yourself , then you will be able to build you own project and share it with the community (so the next guy can have it for free. )
if you want to pay for this code PM me and i will send you a list of people that we use for this type of commercial project.
my next quesiton is ther any project out there like this? (that i dont have to spend like $5000000000 to get). Like pay $100 or w/e it costs for that piece of software and not a necessity to be on joomla but a situation where it connects to a billing program and monitors a minutes based on accounts etc..
ambush276, it isn't likely that this software is out there--for free or for charge. The system you're describing is basically a way to start your own simple phone service/sip service with a user portal. That's basically what sip providers do. And they don't open source their own business code, because they make a living off of it, for the most part. If you are really interested in creating this kind of software, it will definitely cost you.
Fonality (the company which sponsors trixbox CE development) just recently opened a new "Professional Services" group where they do custom programming of all sorts and integration for trixbox servers. I'd suggest that you contact them (or send me a PM and I'll get them in contact with you), as they can definitely build a large scale system like the one you are describing for your business.
Good luck with your business endeavours :)
Am I missing something here??? is this not what A2Billing does????
I do not understand why joomla is mention as a content management is too restricted for any real web dev work...
from the site
If you want to launch any of the following services, then A2Billing may be the system for you:
•Traditional Calling Card services – A2Billing can be configured to provide standard calling card services via traditional “dial through”, with PIN or CID authentication.
•Callback services, A2Billing supports a number of call-back methods including ANI, DID and web based call-backs.
•VoIP residential services – Customers can be issued with a softphone or hard phone and be billed for calls made via Voice over IP.
•VoIP wholesale termination - A2Billing and Asterisk can be used as a softswitch to terminate and bill large numbers of VoIP minutes from a number of sources such as resellers and distributors of your services.
•VoIP termination for Asterisk and FreePBX systems. – With the growth of IP based PBX systems, as well as the asterisk based systems, A2Billing can be used to provide services and billing to IP PBX resellers and Asterisk system integrators.
•DID termination and redirection. DID can be redirected to any SIP, IAX or PSTN destination with monthly charges and duration based charges.
