Card Comparison

I hadn't looked at installing analog cards previously, as the system we currently use in one of our branch offices only use VoIP trunks for external calls and is connected across the VPN to our Avaya system here for intra company calls. I am looking to do another installation in another of our branch offices but this office has seven analog lines coming into the building so will need to terminate these (RJ11) onto the trixbox installation.

I've looked at a Digium card (AEX800) and a Rhino card (R8FXX-e-EC) that both seem to do exactly what I need and have similar specs. (PCIe – 8 x FXO with EC).

AEX800 - http://store.digium.com/productview.php?product_code=1AEX808EF
R8FXX-e-EC - http://shop.rhinoequipment.com/product_info.php/products_id/47

I'm just a little confused (I guess as I don't have experience in purchasing this type of thing) as to why there is such a difference in price, for what to me, seems to give the same functionality… $990 vs. $359

Can anyone shed some light on the differences or the reasoning behind the price difference? Quality? Features?

You need to factor in FXO modules

On the rhino you will need to factor in 4 dual port FXO modules for a total of 8 FXO ports. Just from a quick google it looks like the total will run you between $730 to $750. We use rhino cards all the time and are very satisfied. I haven't used the Digium AEX800 so maybe someone else will comment about it.

Good luck....
