ISDN Trunk in a VMWare Environment

Hi all,

My first post and I'm hoping this isn't doubling up anywhere or in the wrong spot.

I'm a sys admin for a private school in Brisbane, and we're looking at migrating from an older NEC IPK II pabx to Trix Box.

I've got experience with TrixBox as a VMWare guest OS and have run them quite successfully.

However, in order to move forward with the proof of concept, I need to provide ISDN trunk access to the trixbox, but the CPU in my host machines (Dell 2950) don't support the PCI Pass Thru functionality required to use any sort of PCI ISDN cards.

Has anyone tried an alternate method with success at all? For example, could an Epygi Quadro or some such device be utilised in this type of scenario?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hello, glad your test is

Hello, glad your test is working out well.

Are you familiar with Cisco devices? You can put an ISDN PRI or BRI interface in a Cisco router with the appropriate voice module and trunk it to the trixbox with SIP.

Adtran makes the Total

Adtran makes the Total Access 908e which has 2 PRI ports, 8 FXS ports, and 1 emergency FXO port. They can be had pretty cheap and are pretty easy to configure.
