Hi,
We are in planning to move from legacy pbx to Trixbox system. We already have test server with sip trunk to VOIP provider, but are not happy with voice quality, so we decided to have T1 from Verizon.
Please help me here,
1) Which t1 connection do we need from Verizon, PRI or local T1 ?
2) Which T1 card we need to install on the Trixbox server ?
3) How is the voice quality compare to voip provider ?

Thanks,

T1 vs PRI

1. PRI. CallerID is better supported with PRI.
2. I would suggest your name brand card providers, Digium, Sangoma, Rhino, etc. Remember, service and support is just as important as price.
3. My experience is that PRI or T1 voice quality is excellent.

LOCAL T1 from Verizon, and Sangoma A101D card for trixbox ?
What signaling protocols are compatible with local T1 ?

I would stay away from the

I would stay away from the local T1 and stick with an ISDN PRI. In band signalling is a pain to setup and a legacy technology.

T1 vs PRI

Now days PRI's are cheaper than T-1's as well.

I had a PRI and replaced it

I had a PRI and replaced it with a data T1 carrying a sip trunk. I can get 50 channels (g729) this way as opposed to 23 from the PRI. Also I don't have to mess with any T1 cards and I can auto fail over to a different server if I need without having to move any cables.
