What happens when you try?

What happens when you type a number into your HUDlite "dial" window? Are you putting a "9" first so you can get an outside line?

Do you have your trunks set up correctly?

Hi Chris its Graham Campbell

Hi Chris its Graham Campbell from HiTech Solutions in New Zealand here. I am trying to do the same thing on our trixbox pro NFR CCE system with HUD Pro and experiencing the same issue. I can use HUD to dial any extension number but if I try to dial an external phone number and use the prefix number 1 (which routes our calls through the SIP trunk) plus the phone number I want to call all I get is our inbound call greeting. If I enter the exact same digits on the desk phone the call goes through.

Am I doing something wrong or does HUD not allow external calling?

Thanks.

Hmm...must be in an International Dial plan issue

Graham,

Hrmm...this must be a dial-plan issue. Perhaps HUD is expecting a digit or something. Let me get engineering to take a look.

Graham,

Graham,

Hello, while I'm not a member of the engineering group at Fonality (I'm a level 3 support tech), I believe I can provide some insight into what is happening here.

HUD (as it's currently designed) will *always* prepend a '9' to calls that are made through it. So, for instance if you enter 3105551212 and click on the call button, HUD server will receive this number, and will in turn send along to Asterisk a request for '93105551212'. So, unfortunately despite having dial plan entries that do not begin with 9, HUD will currently attempt to use them.

You can work around this by configuring up your dial plans something like this:

9 + xxxxxxx -- route out analog
9 + 1xxxxxxx -- route out SIP

.. and then enter into HUD '9xxxxxxx' when you wish to dial out over analog, or '91xxxxxxx' when you wish the call to go over your SIP connection.

Make sense?

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Cheers,

Ben
