Millions of computer programs in both European and American companies are outdated and are no longer creating value for the company. It creates a great demand for cleaning up the amount of obsolete and maintenance intensive IT systems.
It concludes a new report from the IT companies Capgemini and HP.
The report finds that 85% of all businesses need to streamline their programs and IT systems. Nearly 60% support either “more” or “much more” systems and programs than necessary.
Only in 4% of businesses, all active IT systems are business-critical. Many companies retain data in longer time than necessary just to be on the safe side. Moreover, many companies have customized solutions, which make the problem more complicated.
