Aastra 6757i - mute button stops working

Our office uses nine Aastra 6757i phones connected to a Trixbox server. All phones have the latest (May 2010) firmware. My boss uses her phone more than anyone else, and often relies on the mute feature for multitasking while on conference calls. However, of late, sometimes (randomly) her mute button simply does not work. She is on a conference call as I write this, and I have confirmed for myself that pressing the mute button does absolutely nothing. Is there any chance this is a software issue or is the hardware defective? I seem to recall swapping her phone with someone else's when this happened in the past, which temporarily solved the problem for her... that would seem to indicate it might be either a software issue, some strange thing she is doing to her phone, or a problem that occurs when this model of phone sees a lot of use.

I would appreciate any comments.
