Authentication failure on auto configuration

Hi all, I am running trixbox v2.8.04, asterisk 1.6.2.10, would love to tell you what version of freepbx if I could find it. Using a 6753i and 6757i CT for testing.

I have a semi working system, ivr's, day/night modes, queues, ring groups and extensions how I want them. I can login to the queues and test everything out, short of a few recordings I have not made. So I went to try install the aastra-xml-scripts. That seemed to go well, nocked out my hand configured cfg files, that is ok too. I wanted to give it a shot using the auto configuration.

My problem is that whenever I enter an extension number to try and configure I get the error: Authentication Failed - Wrong Credentials.

I am using the extension number and the voicemail password. I have tried the secret as well.

I removed the aastra-xml-scripts package using rpm, removed the /var/www/html/aastra directory, removed /var/cache/aastra and removed my entire /tftpboot directory.

I recreated the /tftpboot directory , gave it proper permissions, reinstalled the scripts, ran setup-aastra-xml again. Rebooted the server, rebooted the phones, I am back in the same situation, I can not authenticate to move forward in provisioning these phones. I am very interested in getting this done because with my config files I made earlier I can not get all of the scripts to work like they should.

Does anyone have anything else I can try?

Thank you.

Grant

You have to have the

You have to have the extension/secret combination incorrectly set. Try Xlite with the same extension/secret and see if it registers.

Solstars, I wish that was

Solstars,

I wish that was the case, fired up Xlite and had no problem connecting using the extension # and secret. Double checked by swapping secret and voicemail password, reloading trixbox web interface and then doing amportal restart. Login credentials switched on Xlite, neither time did they actually work as planned on the 6757i CT.

How to debug the problem

Hello there,

If the authentication using the extension number and the VM password fails that means there is a configuration issue somewhere as it works perfectly on our test platform. Here are a couple of things you need to do to identify the origin of the problem. I believe this is a general failure to access to the Asterisk Manager

  1. Run the diagnostic tool (/var/www/html/aastra/utilities/check_install) and make sure that all the tests pass
  2. Make sure that all the extension voicemail context is "default"
  3. Activate trace and debug in /var/www/html/aastra/config/server.conf the log files are located at /var/cache/aastra
  4. Set an admin password for the login in /var/www/html/aastra/config/asterisk.conf and try to login with this password instead of the VM password

The debug traces should give you an indication why the login fails, if not I will help you to debug via pm or phone.

Let us know what you find.

Regards

I enabled trace and debug,

I enabled trace and debug, set the password and did not even check them yet, saw that voicemail context was set to other, changed that, reloaded webpage, aamportal restart, phone provisioned itself, and I have a lamp on the day/night program, how awesome is that!!!

Thank you for the help, I imagine this should fix me up on every other extension as well.

On that same note, I used

On that same note, I used the bulk extension creation tool, can you set the voicemail context via that tool as well?

Re: bulk creation

Hi Grant,

Unfortunately I am not very familiar with the bulk creation tool, I remember that in the past you were able to set the VM context but I think the latest version I have seen with Trixbox does not allow it anymore. Maybe someone in the forum can help.
Maybe you will have to recreate all your extensions manually...

Sorry

You cannot set the context

You cannot set the context using bulk creation (just one of the many shortcomings). If I had know you set those extensions up that way at the onset, I would have recommended a manual rebuild to get the settings right. The only time I can successfully use the bulk tool is when setting up a bunch of softphones for call centers and the like.
