Random No Service - Aastra 6731i

Normal LAN configuration; POE D-link, a bunch of 6731i Aastras with latest firmware of January 2010 [2.5.3.18]. And phones intermintingly go into NO SERVICE.

Registration Period 0
Registration Failed Retry Timer 1
Registration Timeout Retry Time 120
Registration Renewal Timer 0

From what I am reading in the forums, apparently this is NOT an isolated instance?

I'm getting conflicting responses as to what the Registration Period should be 0, 60 or 3600

Does anybody have the definitive fix?

I have some of those phones and mine is set to the default. Do you have an internal DNS server? This fixed my out of service problem.

Randon/Intermittent No Service

Thanks for comments:

1. No DNS server on LAN at this time; will check into that.

2. Trixbox server is remote.

We have NEVER suffered from random dropped registration to our remote box before - neither with Polycoms nor Grandstreams - thus I wouldn't consider it a network issue.

Could it be an issue of mixing different endpoint manufacturers on the same LAN?

its dns

It's a dns issue. I had the same problem with the same phone on a pbxtra setup. Once I pointed to an internal dns the problem went away.

Internal DNS

Very well; will set it up and confirm.

Thanks.
