All-

I'm setting up 8 Polycom IP330's at a client who has their office right underneath some train tracks in downtown Chicago. Needless to say, it gets a little loud sometimes ;) What I need to know is how to increase the ringer volume on the IP 330's. I messed around in the ipmid.cfg file and couldn't get it to be appreciably louder -- obviously i'm looking at the wrong option. Can someone let me know where the option is for the 330 ring volume?

Having the users press

Having the users press Volume+ 5 times each seems reasonable...
You can try a custom ringer that sounds louder, but chances are if you go loud enough for them to hear it, it'll sound crappy.

also be aware ...

there is a setting (think sip.cfg - check the polycom users guide) that you need to set to "lockin" a change to the volume on the handset...otherwise this always resets to some default and that means the next call the volume will be too low again ! i seem to recall tha there are specific parameters to change the volume on the headset, handset, etc..

Set persistent Volume

Open your sip.cfg file in the tftpboot folder. Go down to line 208 - volume line. The default here is 0... change all of them to 1. With this set to "0", every time you use the phone, it will go back to it's default loudness. Setting it to "1", will hold both the ring volume and volume of the handset when talking for each phone. You will need to restart each phone to reload the sip.cfg file for the change to take place.
