I am engaged in the water research now in France, because I am too busy with my job, I haven’t been back home for about 3 years. Have a job overseas means better salary and higher status. But far away from my motherland prevents me from hearing from my family members. How sad it is!
Somebody may suggest using the international call, but the long distance call charged lots of money. Every time I call back home, my parents always hang up the call in a hurry. I know, being formers all their life, they can not accept spend so much money on callings. They want to save money for me. Moreover it is inconvenient that it can only hear sound from phones, which means we can not see each other’s face. I had even tried to use immediate communication facilities, such as QQ. But it needs to turn on the computer every time you want to use it, which means a bit trouble to old people. One day, my colleague introduced VOIP to me, the general meaning of it is to realize audio call through the Internet (I am not quite sure whether it is right or not). I searched in the internet, and found an audio phone GXV3140, which is most cost-effective. What is more, from the picture, I felt that its shape and color are all acceptable. Therefore, I ordered two pieces, one use by myself and another sent back home.
It seems that GXV3140 delivers by Grandstream from China. It took me almost one week to receive it, while my parents received it in 4 days. The designed packing of it is acceptable, which gives people a sense of fashion. Especially its black case and silvery white key pads, gives me profound impression. After connecting the power supply and internet to the phone, a default account number had registered just as it was said, which relieved me from worrying lots of trick configuration that may prevent my parents from using it. It is so user-friendly. I was told that this free account is offered by Grandstream for the benefit of users. Anyway, I was so happy that I could make a call with it. I dialed the account number of another GXV3140 with an excited mood. Thanks for the advance of the technology. It often gives unexpected changing to life and business. After several ringings, a familiar voice from other hemisphere was heard. What is more, I saw my father on the phone. How excite I am! It seems that my father was older than before, who had much more 'white hair, but I was happy to find out that their bodies are in good condition. That night we chatted for a long time, my father and my mother had bombed me in turn from my personal life to daily trivial for nearly two hours. How great the free thing.
I put my family’s phone number into GXV3140’s phone book. Firstly, I was afraid my parents did not know how to configure it for knowing nothing about French. But they told me that their phone is display in Chinese, which with most of functions similar to telephone. What is more, they can read some domestic news and Guangzhou weather forecast on the telephone. What a multi--functional phone it is! Later on, I found out that my phone also has these functions, but it is about the headlines of France and Lyons's weather report. After looking up the user's manual, I found out that gxv3140 automatically change configurations according to the different places the users live. What a user-friendly phone!
It seems that GXV3140’s functions have already beyond my and my parents’ knowledge of an analogue phone. Looking to the user's manual, I found that lots of common functions have been adapted to it: calendars, alarm clock, and phone book and so on. Even some intelligent functions, like multi-media player, browser as well as immediate communication facilities like MSN and QQ are all offered by it. I do not quite believe it unless I find that I really can get online and chat with my good friends through MSN. But it is extremely tedious by typing with telephone keyboard. From the handbook, I find that it can connect to the USB keyboard and the mouse. I think this function is to solve this problem, but it is a pity that I do not have these equipments now, so I can not have a try. Moreover, there is a great function which deserves my introduction, which is Photo Album. I can shoot mine life and the working moment, and then upload to the internet album. So that my family can just enter the account of my internet album to this phone to view my splendid life here, which means that I no longer need to develop my photos and mail them back home.
Overall, gxv3140 gives me a very wonderful experience, but I find one dissatisfied. It requires 2 minutes’ rebooting time. Although the LCD display clearly, but its size is just the same as a PSP, which can not enable browse web with full screen. What is more, it needs connecting external mouse and keyboard. However the rebooting time will not disturb me a lot, because nobody will reboot his phone all the time. What I really care and enjoy is its multi-functions. I am planning to by one to my girlfriend Mathilda, so that she can talk with my family face to face.
