Grandstream GXP2010 Message Waiting Indicator

Of all the post I have read about getting the MWI to light up, My problem is the opposite. After listening to and deleting a message, the indicator light continues to flash. Rebooting the phone is the only way to stop the light from flashing. Restarting Asterisk does not turn the light off.

Note-The MWI would not flash until I set the SUBSCRIBE for MWI to "yes" in the Account1 settings via the phones web interface. After making this change, the MWI will flash when a message is left.

This happens on all GXP 2010's I have (7 total)

trixbox CE current release is 2.8.0
Phones are GXP 2010
Product Model: GXP2010 (HW0.2C)
Software Version: Program-- 1.2.2.26 Bootloader-- 1.1.6.7

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I don't have that problem

I don't have that problem with my GXP 2010 phones. My MWI works fine. It's set to NO in the Account 1 configuration. When I delete the last message there is a few second delay, and then the indicator turns off.

I'm running GXP2010 (HW0.2B)
Software program 1.1.6.46 Bootloader 1.1.6.6
Trixbox CE 2.8.0

I had problems with the Grandstream phones doing funny things before this version of the firmware. They're terrible to work with. They don't respond to support calls and the "fixes" usually cause more problems. I finally got mine to work but I don't know that I'd update the firmware in the phone again for fear of breaking it again.

Grandstream makes a great phone. They're just terrible at supporting their users.

Like many other people we moved from a small phone system into a PBX and everyone just has to see who else is on the phone so we needed all the busy lights. It was the primary reason we went with Grandstream.

Same problem here

I have the exact problem. I also set MWI subscribe to NO in account 1 (and all accounts for that matter) and still getting the problem.

Anyone with a solution would be greatly appreciated!

Update w/Snom

Different box, different phone, completely new configuration(Snom 320 Latest Firmware 8.x) same problem as with Grandstream. MWI will not turn off unless phone reboot or re-register.

Maybe fixed

I dont have the Grandstreams available at the moment, But I found this in a different forum and it fixed the Snom.

In the GUI, click "Extensions" , then go to "Device Options" and the "Mailbox" field. Mine read 104@default, I changed it to 104@device. The MWI turns on and off correctly now. I will try this with the Grandstreams as soon as I can.

I'm using Grandstream 2010's

I'm using Grandstream 2010's and had the same issue. I've noticed on my phones, if I assign multiple line buttons with the same extension number, the phone selects the bottom line to call out on first. You have to check messages from the button with the MWI signal to clear the MWI. So you would want to set Lline 4 to subscribe for MWI if you have all 4 lines assigned. Line 2 if you have 2 lines assigned... etc. Set subscribe for MWI off for all other lines.

GrandStream Resolved

Strangely enough, The GrandStreams needed the opposite to work. The setting in the "MailBox Field" needed to be set to xxx@@default ( where xxx is the ext number)

Quick Tip
MWI can be set on a phone to monitor messages for a different ext. For example, you are ext 101 and need to know if ext 100 has messages. On Ext 101 set 101@default,100@default in the mailbox field. Your MWI will flash if either Ext has messages, if you delete the message for an alternate ext, it will turn off on both ext's.
