57iCT Cordless Phone issues

I've posted this elsewere but since this is an Aastra forum, I thought it makes sense to post it here as well.

I have a client that wants to have 4 cordless phones and the boss will have the desktop phone in his office. The users of these phones are not the brightest people so the owner wants to keep things simple.

What he is looking for are cordless phones with line 1, line 2, line 3, etc... so when a call comes in, they can place the call on line 1 on hold and then tell Bob that a call is on hold on line 1. Then Bob grabs his phone, presses line 1 and keeps on talking.

We purchased two 57iCT phones and have them connected to the trixbox. We then downloaded the new XML scripts so we have the parking lot feature working perfectly on the desktop phones. However on the cordless phones they don't work at all.

Is there a way to get the cordless phones to work like the desk phones so we can place calls on hold and another phone can grab that line to answer it? If not, is there a good document that outlines how to share extentions on the cordless phones so Line 1 is extention 101, Line 2 is extention 102, etc... on all phones?

Thanks.

Ok, I've seen your variants

Ok, I've seen your variants of this post enough times now. How many times are you going to re-post this? Believe it or not, you have received extremely good responses to your previous posts on this same topic from THE most qualified and distinguished members of this community. Now I'm not trying to be a dick here, but seriously, enough is enough.

What you are looking for is simply not possible on the CT handsets. In fact, the SLA functionality, which you are specifically requesting is not a very workable solution with Asterisk on any handset right now.

Let's put this to bed right now.

Ok, I'm holding a 57iCT handset right now. I tried programming a speed dial to park. Doesn't work so, this is your best and probably only option: Press the F up key 4 times (you are now on Transfer). Press the send key. Press 70#. (7 key presses) Listen. It will say 71 or 72 or 73, etc. Announce to Bob the call is on 71. Bob can then dial 71 from his phone. OR, press ##70# (4 key presses) and announce to Bob what slot to pick up. OR write an applicationmap and get it down to 2 key presses. This is as good as it gets.

OK I've seen your raints

Ethan:

Did you or did you not read the first line of my post. I said: "I've posted this elsewere but since this is an Aastra forum, I thought it makes sense to post it here as well.". I wanted to put this here so if someone came into this forum with a 57iCT unit he can see this tread and just read it without having to search many threads to find the answer like I've been doing.

I'm trying to get all the answers I need for this problem so I can get this working until you get your SLA project done. Once I get it working then I will post a WIKI thread with step by step instructions on how to do this so others won't have to spend days and hours reading posts like I've been doing.

So if you are reading this and saying "oh man, not again..", then good for you. That just means you are very active in these forums and you are helping all of us out. For that I'm extreemly gratefull and I hope to get there one day myself! But at the same time for every one of you there are probably 10 other folks who want a quick and easy way to find their answers and get on with business. So I'm doing all of this for those 10 other folks. If it means sticking my head out over the crowd and getting a tomato in the face, then so be it.

You are right in that the answers have been good, but lacking in instructions on how to accomplish the task. I've been using Linksys phones so I know them like the back of my head but this is the first time I've use the Aastra phones so I'm on a steep learning curve here. I will take your answer above, implement them as best as I can this weekend and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for your input Ethan and everyone else who is reading this. I really appreciate all that you do here on these forums.

I'm going to be honest with

I'm going to be honest with you, my SLA solution is not going to work for wireless handsets of any kind. It revolves around the concept of BLF capabilities.

SLA on Cordless phones

Ethan:

That's good to know! Hopefully by being vocal here and elsewhere I've brought something up that no one would have asked to check out, ie, will the SLA program work on the cordless phones. When you finally post the SLA program you many want to make that known.

I think I've come up with a solution that I'll be testing this weekend. If it works I'll let you know. Maybe my solution can be the SLA solution for the cordless phone environment...

Update on issue

We got a call from Aastra about a month ago asking to beta test their new firware for the 57iCT phone to see if it resolved our problem. After installing the beta firmware I'm happy to report that the cordless phones are working perfectly how and we're able to put calls on park and get calls from parks just fine. Best of all, the client is now happy (finally!).

Cordless Park & Pickup

I have installed many 57i phones and love the XML scripts for them. I just purchased a 57iCT and I would like to know how you accomplished the park and pickup functionality from the cordless handset. Is this firmware you beta tested available yet? Are there XML scripts that will function on a cordless? How did you program the Park & Pickup on the cordless? Thanks for any help.
