Disable callerid in Hudlite client

Thats a k.o criterium for my company. It must be possible to hide those infos from the rest of the users otherwise privacy is not any more existing.
Especially, the first argument is important, not everybody should see, who and when the CEO is calling.
Please think about implementing this feature...

Im surprised there isnt a setting to turn that off. Its holding me back from deploying for the same reasons listed above: certain people (CEO, Lawyers, PR) have to keep who they are calling secret. Simply turning off their call status wouldnt work, since it is still important to see IF the CEO is on the phone before trying to call them sometimes, rather than annoy them with another ringing line while in the middle of something important. We just dont need the whole company knowing WHO they are talking to.

We're running into the same issue. We can't deploy HUDlite to all of our employees because of the CEO privacy issue. I think what we would like to see is some kind of privacy / VIP flag that can be set per-extension, and nobody would be able to see who that person was talking to.

I actually just sat down with one of the engineers and got it explained to me. The group permission is called "see callers details". So in Pro EE/CCE you can create management groups and regular user group and then by controlling who has access to see other people call details you can prevent people from seeing who someone is talking to. It's a little tricky to setup which is why I didn't think it was there. I apologize for the confusion.

it is only in trixbox Pro EE or CCE, if you have those you manage permissions in the Group section.

You cannot control caller ID display in HUDlite.

The display of caller ID info for all users is a show stopper for us. Even though we're a local government, and we're supposed to be as transparent as possible, it's a bit too voyeuristic and our department heads won't approve of using it.

This issue frustrating - simply because Hudlite is so close to qualifying as the "killer app" that showcases the possible integration of PC and Phone on this platform. We've changed out hundreds of phones from our old Meridian to our new Trixbox system, and we are constantly asked why the "new phones are better". We've settled on the canned answer of "The new phones are black!?"

We'd happily pay a reasonable per extension fee for Hud pro - as long as it installable into a TrixboxCE environment.

I've tried manually removing certain extensions from the /etc/asterisk/hud/users.xml as a workaround, but it keeps repopulating the file with any phone that registers.

Aside from this issue, and not being able to sort users into groups, testing has shown it to be a reliable software package, as compared to other (somewhat) similar products such as outcall.

Lastly - where do the chat logs get written to?

Again, great product, so close to being perfect for what we need.

HudLite is a what we have looked for to make a PBX complete.

But with this "feature" that everybody can see who is calling whom, we can't roll it out.

Please put in a switch to hide caller IDs and called numbers

I bet if you put this out to all the people who use hudlite and who would like to use hudlite, you would get more than 3 or 4 requests for caller ID toggle function.

Intercom lines? Why do you have a seperate extension for intercom?

on all the cisco phones we assign one line auto answer intercom function.

p.s. they make great ( but expensive ) baby monitors too ; )

Just got done deploying hudlite and I may have to remove it. The first three comments I got from end users was their concern about being able to see the phone numbers on other peoples calls...

Seems to me there should be a few option under the extensions.

Display Ext in HUD: YES/NO

Display Ext Call Info in HUD: YES/NO

Those 2 alone would be huge. Also, Would think these settings should apply to the FOP as well. I assume if you don't want it in HUD you would not want it in the FOP as well.

We understand the concern and it is on the to-do list for HUDlite 3.

The default should be to not display this information as this would be a basic requirement of any professional installation where a lawyer or CEO or whomever would be involved, and I just went in and found the permission option in for our HUD-pro and "HUD - See others call details" from the "Basic Human Rights" group. Now HUD displays "private", but I would actually prefer to see a little more information and see External or Internal Call or to add another layer of information to the Externals calls... so "Incoming Call" "Outgoing Call" and interoffice should just be "Internal Call" so those would be the three states to replace just "Private" -- actually you can temporarily see "calling" so if you catch it in time or are continuously watching and diligent you can already determine if the call is Incoming or Outgoing. This way someone would know if they talking to someone else in the office and could be interrupted or if they were talking to some externally which would potentially be more important.

If nothing else the actual term "Private" should actually be replaced -- it has secretive connotations and so should be replaced with "In Call" or something else benign to avoid that connotation. Although cosmetic, this is the least that should be tweaked.
