filemaker and hudlite

i'm a little new to this whole thing, we've got a trixbox setup at our work with tons for snom phones and we're using the HUDlite software on our macs to manage everything.
my problem is that i'd like to setup a click to dial system running through our filemaker database. i've checked out and tested http://mezzo.net/asterisk/asterisk_fm.html and also http://www.equinux.com/us/products/macdial/index.html but both don't work satisfactorly. the asterisk plug-in, when finally installed calls my desk phone and then hangs up, while macdial jumps up and down everytime i try to place a call and generally times out before actually doing it.
i think the solution is in an applescript file sent from filemaker to HUDlite telling it to dial the number in the database (which is what both the aformentioned bits of software do expect that they use their own dialers). i figure that hud lite works great and why not use that instead of getting any other piece of software involved. that said, i have no idea how to go about doing this. any ideas????
