Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Hi!

Is Outlook 2007 supported by HUD lite? Tried to install the add-in today but it fails and the menu to place calls does not appear.

/Hasse

EDIT:

Actually, I could find the DLL and add it manually to Outlook 2007, BUT placing the call doesn't work. I get Outlook could not complete operation with automatic dialler, check your line settings. But there aren't any to set...

Did you reboot your machine afterwards? You might have to after the TAPI driver is installed.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

It appears that it is not working with Outlook 2007. I have also tried this combination and have not been able to get it to work.

Anyone else out there? Since today is the official release of Office 2007, maybe we will see some more activity on this.

I am also running outlook 2007 - and the dll did not install. But for the life of me i cannot figure out how to manually install the dll. It used to be under options advanced - but no longer!

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Go to Tools...Trust Center
Then select Add-Ins on the left.
Now at the bottom where it says "Manage" select "COM Add-ins" and click Go.
Then click Add, and browse to the location of where the HUD Outlook plugin is installed (Mine was C:\Program Files\Fonality\HUD.Outlook) and select the OutlookHUD.dll file.
Next, OK everything to get out of the settings, and I don't think you have to restart Outlook, but you may.

Don't forget the first time you go to call, select the Dialing Options at the bottom of the call window and make sure HUDTAPI is selected for the "Connect using line" option.

The only problem I'm having is that my phone rings...I pick it up, and it begins to dial, then before it rings, it hangs up. If I call using the HUDLite client, it works fine. This only started not working when I upgraded the HUDLite server.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

I did figure out how to get the dll into outlook - but as the last poster remarked it calls my extention and then hangs up after I pick up. I can dial from the HudLite widget as well.

So close and yet so far... I would love to get this working!

The same thing is happening to me. Has anyone got a fix for it yet?

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

During the Trixbox Webinar, Kerry or Andrew said that version 2.0 of HudLite was very close. Maybe this has been addressed in V2.0.

I know the download page on Hudlite.org says Version 2.0 on the download page, but the file that downloads is 1.6.x

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Just curious if anyone has found a solution for this yet or if everyone is just waiting on v2.0 to come out - we are experiencing the same thing. The dial from Outlook feature, I think, is a great selling tool for HUDlite. I would love to start showing this off to our customers.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

2.0 is close but there have been no changes in the way the DLL is loaded. most of the problems we see with DLLs are people installing HUDlite without root permissions on their box.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Thanks for the reply, Andrew. I'm not sure this is the same problem. I didn't have any trouble or errors installing and almost everything that I've seen so far with HUDlite works. The only problem I'm having is what a couple others have posted - after installing the Outlook add-in, when you dial from within Outlook, your extension rings - you answer the extension - and one or two rings later the call is stopped, no errors or anything, just gone.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Okay. I finally got everything working correctly.

Here are the details.

Windows Vista Professional, Outlook 2007.

Problem 1: When I installed Hudlite, the OutlookHUD.dll did not load as a COM+ extension. When I went into OUtlook Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins and tried to add the .dll, it did not appear in the list.

Solution 1: Had to start Outlook 2007 with the Vista "Run as the Adminsitrator" feature, add the OutlookHUD.dll as above and it did appear. Once I got it added, it was there and selected whenever I went into Outlook normally.

Problem 2: HUDLite runs normally but I cannot dial from Outlook.

Solution 2: In order for it to work properly, I have to always start HUDLite with the Vista "Run as the Administrator" feature. It's a pain when I boot to load it as I have to respond to the Vista nags - but it works.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

You could also turn off "protected User-mode" and it won't require "run as administrator" to get it working, but you will get this annoying little pop-up every time you restart your machine...

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

Bad news: It doesn't work after all. I can dial via Outlook 2007 but once the opposite end picks up, all I hear is a quick beep\beep then it disconnects.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Outlook integration in Outlook 2007 not working

I am also getting the "connection drops after it starts dialling" problem. Not sure its to do with Outlook 2007 though as I get exactly the same when I use anything dialling through the Hud TAPI provider. It does the same thing (ie drops the call) whether its a call to an "internal" Sip phone or on a trunk. I think this is a bug in the HUD TSP.

hudlite on vanilla freepbx/asterisk centos box

Hi,

I'm also using Outlook 2007 but haven't been able to get hudlite working.
Can you guys try to include all the necessary stuff like the perl modules in an rpm for centos so its a little simpler to install? It would be a great help. I'm requesting it because I read on the hudlite.org site that is should work with most versions of centos.

Exceprted from: http://www.hudlite.org/linuxserver.htm
If you want to install HUDlite on your scratch built Asterisk box this is how to set it up. HUDlite server should work with most versions of Linux. It has been tested to work with CentOS and Fedora.

Thanks,
Lee

Outlook doesn't dial

I have the same problem. XP Pro with Outlook 2007. The .dll shows up when I go into COM add-ins in Outlook. I can right click any name in my Contacts and use the dial with HUD utility, my extension will ring, I pick it up and then it just sits there and then hangs up. That all that happens.

I read through all the posts and really don't see any solutions. Any thoughts???

Thanks!

BUMP

Hudlite and Outlook 2007 is still non-working. I've got SOME machines that will start to dial, after the manual DLL insertion, but then crap out.

Others completly fail.

Any news on an update? Outlook 2007 is almost a year old now.

To confirm, I have Outlook

To confirm, I have Outlook 07 with XP home sp2 working perfectly. Never had an issue, had it installed with I think all the versions of Trixbox besides current beta. Not sure why it's not working for some, not sure what I did differently. At least you know it works.

Outlook dialout not working here either

DLL installed fine (Vista Business with Outlook 2007). Click to dial a contact, my extension rings and when I pick it up it is the TB Pro phone dude asking me to dial an extension. It seems it is not getting any direction from Outlook as who to dial.

Anyone have a solution to this? I have tried to run HUDlite as admin with the same results.

Hud dropping the call on our cisco 7960

I was having the exact same problem. The number would ring on the 7960 and then drop when you answer. So tried different variations of the number from outlook (format the number is in)

1604253XXXX - worked and rang through

But if the number has 1(604253XXXX It doesn't seem to work. It seems if you wrap the area code with () then it isn't stripping that out for some reason.

Hud Working in Win7 with Outlook 2007

Hey, I have been googling for a while to find out how to get HUD up and running with Outlook 2007.
I am not sure how relevant this will be, however as this thread looked promising I can only assume others will find it one day as well.

HUD installed on Trixbox 2.6.2.3 ( doesn't work on 2.8 ... i tried )
Client installed on Windows 7 Pro 32bit -ok
Now i don't know if this has helped at all, but i have told HUD Lite to run in windows XP compatibility mode.
From comments above i found that you had to add the OutlookHUD.dll to COM Add-Ins in Outlook.
Had to search a bit to find the dll but eventually found it in C:\Users\Public\hud.workspace\HUD.Outlook\OutlookHUD.dll
Added dll to trust center in Outlook
Restarted Outlook
Tested - OK.

Hope this helps someone else.
